46 year old Bollywood actor Sonu Sood who has been praised by everyone in the country via social media for helping and arranging transport for the stranded migrant workers was called on the residence of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray, “Matoshree”.

The meeting came in just a day after the actor was criticised by the senior leader of Shiv Sena, Sanjay Raut, who allege that Sonu Sood’s generosity was part of a BJL ploy to show that Maharashtra Government is weak and incompetent After meeting Sonu Sood, Aditya Thackeray tweeted, “This evening Sonu Sood met up with CM Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray ji along with Minister Aslam Shaikh and me. Better together, stronger together to assist as many people through as many people. Good to have met a good soul to work for the people together,”

Sonu Sood, post his meeting with Maharashtra’s CM, downplayed the sharp criticism of Sanjay Raut and said that every political party in India has been praising and supporting him.

Sonu Sood denied of any misunderstanding with the government of Maharashtra as he said, “They are also supporting it and it’s not about any particular party or anything… we have to support all the people who are suffering… every party from Kashmir to Kanya Kumari has supported me,”.

Sanjay Raut, in the weekly column of Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece Saamna, wrote that Sonu Soon would promote any political party if the Bollywood actor is paid well. He added, “Sood is an actor whose profession is to deliver dialogues scripted by someone else and make a living out of it. There are many people like Sood who would promote any political party if paid well,”.

When his statement drew major backlash upon himself, Sanjay Raut defended his the state government, which is a union of three political parties the Congress party, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena, over its handling of the migrant worker crisis as he said, “No other state could have treated migrant workers the way they have been taken care of by the Maharashtra government.”

As Sonu Sood reached the residence of the CM of Maharashtra, Sanjay Raut tweeted a rather snide remark saying, “In the end, Sonu Sood has found the address of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. He has reached Matoshree. Jai Maharashtra”, he tweeted in Marathi.

Sonu Sood has arranged transport for thousands of stranded migrant workers in the past 2 months. He has also helped those who have approached him via the micro blogging website, Twitter.

Sonu Sood, on Sunday, tweeted “My journey with my migrant brothers & sisters has been the most special one. It’s straight from the heart. Right from Kashmir to Kanya Kumari whenever anyone tried to reach me, I’ve put all my efforts to help them reunite with their families & will continue to do so.”
