If you are a health professional who wants to migrate to the UK we have some good news for you. UK is planning to soon implement the NHS (National Health Service) visa scheme wherein the health professional will not only get fast-track service but also the visa will be cut in half, from GBP 928 to GBP 464.

These professional joining the NHS will get extra points along with fast track service on visa applications under this scheme.

Priti Patel, Home Secretary and MP (Member of Parliament), UK, said ‘These measures are part of our plan for an Australian-style points-based immigration system that allows us to control numbers while remaining open to vital professions like nurses’.

Patel said that the UK government wants talent from around the globe join NHS and help it provide services to the people while also ensuring that it is not strained by this process.

As an aftermath of Brexit, NHS has seen a huge hit as over 1.5 lakh of the 12 lakh medical employees are from outside UK, and over 50,000 of them are from Asia (including India). By this scheme UK wishes to recruit medical staff including nurses and doctors.

According to the government the introduction of this NHS Visa will aid in monitoring the immigration along with making sure that people of UK don’t feel the shortage of medical staff.

The UK government has already gave some relaxation to the medical staff applying for Tier 2 visas (general visa) as they are no longer obligated to give an English language test such as IELTS and TOEFL and will be granted visa on the basis of OET (Occupational English Test) alone.
