Singer Taylor Swift has achieved billionaire status, with a net worth of $1.1 billion. She amassed enormous money as a result of the record-breaking Eras tour, which boosted the US economy this summer. The announcement comes on the eve of the release of 1989 TV, the singer-songwriter’s fourth album. Bloomberg, which publishes the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, has certified her billionaire status. According to the outlet, Ms Swift is one of the few entertainers to achieve the position solely via her songs and performance.
The majority of the singer’s fortune comes from her remarkable catalogue, which Bloomberg estimates is worth $400 million. Another $370 million comes from ticket sales and merchandising, while $120 million comes from Spotify and YouTube earnings, and her five houses are worth $110 million.
Forbes estimated Ms Swift’s net worth to be more than $740 million in July, with her real estate portfolio alone worth more than $80 million.
Experts were astounded by the amount of money her Eras Tour earned. Earlier, Chris Leyden, SeatGeek’s head of growth marketing, stated to CNN that the Eras tour “is rewriting the playbook of entertainment economics”.
“She’s not just a performer – she’s an economic phenomenon,” Mr Leyden remarked.
Apart from the tour, Taylor Swift’s concert film ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour’ grossed over $96 million at the box office in the United States and Canada.
Ms Swift became a cultural phenomenon, which increased her financial stature. She has extended her Eras Tour more than ten times since it began in March of this year. Eleven times, she introduced new shows, cities, and countries. The show is set to wrap up in November 2024. Apart from Taylor Swift, Jay Z and Beyonce are two other musicians who have reached the billion-dollar mark. Rihanna, who hasn’t released an album in years, also surpassed the milestone in 2021. Rihanna became a billionaire by establishing her Fenty Beauty make-up line and her Savage x Fenty lingerie collection.
