According to Facebook messages circulating on social media and purporting to be made on behalf of wanted criminal Goldy Brar, a Canada-based gangster has claimed responsibility for the gruesome assassination of musician turned politician Sidhu Moose Wala. He said that he, together with imprisoned mobster Lawrence Bishnoi, planned the assassination since the singer’s name was linked to the murder of Akali leader Vicky Middukhera and his cousin Gurlal Brar. Last year, Middukher was killed in Mohali, while Brar was killed in Chandigarh.
Who is Goldy Brar?
Satinder Singh, also known as Goldy Brar, is a close friend of Lawrence Bishnoi, a criminal. He was a part of an extortion ring operating in the state. He is suspected of being involved in the assassination of Youth Congress leader Gurlal Pehalwan. He is presently based in Canada and runs his business through a Punjabi module. Brar is a native of the state’s Faridkot area.
Brar is a defendant in several criminal cases. In connection with the death of the district Youth Congress president, Gurlal Singh Pehalwan, a Faridpur court issued an open-ended non-bailable arrest warrant against Brar earlier this month.
According to police, the musician did not take the two commandos with him on the night he died, nor did he ride in his armoured automobile.
A white Bolero was seen tailing Sidhu’s SUV on CCTV footage from the crime scene, while two more vehicles intercepted him from the front. Sidhu was shot seconds later.
His car was ambushed by two other vehicles, whose occupants then opened fire, according to police. An AN-94 Russian assault weapon, according to accounts, was used in his murder. According to the police, three separate guns fired over 30 shots.
Recently, a turf war has erupted between Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang and that of deceased mobster Davinder Bambiha in Punjab and the neighbouring state of Haryana and the national capital of Delhi. Goldy Brar, a close accomplice of Bishnoi’s, was running an extortion ring at Bishnoi’s request. Both gangs have been fighting a brutal battle in the state for some years, and they frequently attack each other’s men. Lucky Patial, who is currently imprisoned in Armenia, is said to be the leader of the Bambiha gang.
In July of last year, Goldy Brar’s cousin Gurlal Brar was murdered outside a disc in Chandigarh’s Industrial sector. Gurlal was Bishnoi’s close ally. To avenge his killing, the Bishnois had allegedly assassinated Youth Congress leader Gurlal Pahalwan in Faridkot. The key suspect in the murder was Goldy Brar. He purportedly fled to Canada in 2021 shortly after.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has authorised a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into the situation, according to the Director-GeneralGeneral of Police (DGP). FIR has been registered under sections 302, 307, 341, 148, 149, 427, 120-B of the IPC and 25 and 27 of the Arms Act.
Is Mankrit the Next Target?
In April of this year, Aulakh reportedly requested security protection after receiving threats to his life from the Davinder Bambiha organisation.
According to sources, Mankirt Aulakh was threatened by the Davinder Bambiha gang in a Facebook post in April of this year. In their post, the gangster group accused Aulakh of being no less than any other gangster, claiming that the singer was linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. According to reports, Aulakh had sought security from the newly elected AAP government of Bhagwant Mann, the Chief Minister.
When the Punjab Police were looking into the death of Kabaddi player Sandeep Nangal Ambiya, they discovered that Aulakh was next on the gangster’s hit list. Sandeep Nangal Ambian (formerly Sandeep Singh Sandhu), an international Kabaddi player from India, was killed during a competition in Jalandhar in March of this year.
Even though his political opponents have accused the AAP administration of dragging Punjab into disorder, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has vowed to find down Moosewala’s killers.
The state of Punjab has seen an unprecedented rise in the assassination of high-profile individuals. Parmish Verma, a Punjabi musician, was gunned down by unidentified assailants in Mohali in 2018. Aulakh was said to be close friends with Verma.
