Today, Jyotiraditya Scindia made a huge statement by dropping Congress’s name from his Twitter bio. After being sidelined from the party’s internal affairs in Madhya Pradesh, Jyotiraditya Scindia, the general Secretary, has given wind to the fire of the speculations that were being talked about of political ‘tension’ within the Congress party. His Twitter bio now says ‘Public servant, cricket enthusiast’.
While making the changes on his Twitter profile, Scindia deliberately avoided adding his links with the Congress party, indicating that neither he is a party of the party, nor Kamal Nath led govern ment of Madhya Pradesh.
This is not the first instance where Scindia has shown his discomfort with the Congress party by symbolically separating himself. In the past, the unhappy leader edited his Twitter profile and put in ‘former MP from Guna and a former union minister’ on to his bio.

The recent changes comes at the time when the Congress party is witnessing an intense struggle within the party. Scindia could be feeling sidelined when Congress’ senior leader Digvijaya Singh and CM Kamal Nath are making all the decisions. A Twitter user shares how Scindia have changed the bio on his Twitter profile over time showing his discomfort with the party.

Has he resigned from Congress?

Earlier, Scindia was assumed to be the top choice to lead PCC (Pradesh Congress Committee), however as there was no unanimity, this could not happen.
Scindia’s images was affected when in the Lok Shabha elections earlier this year, Congress was hit with a shocking defeat. Following that, there was a domino effect in the Congress party, events eventually led Rahul Gandhi to resign from the post of Party president. Soon after that, all the young guns were seen to be unmotivated and directionless, including Scindia. As of now Sonia Gandhi is the interim president of Congress party.
Recently, Scindia was also seen condemning his own party, and the government of Madhya Pradesh as the farm loan waivers were slow.
To pacify the issue, Congress appointed Scindia, in-charge of Maharashtra as Assembly elections were around the corner. However, the former MP chose not to do that, rather concentrated on Gwalior and Chambal, his own turfs.
Earlier, when Scindia was removed from the list of people for the CM position in Madhya Pradesh in 2018, he did not participate in any outrage and held back from showcasing his displeasure.
Bhupendra Gupta, Congress Spokesperson said ‘Scindia is a senior and respectable leader of the Congress and such minor issues should not be blown out of proportion’. Upon probing he added the Scindia is the only one who ‘could shed light on the change in his Twitter status’.
Taking a dig at Congress party, Rajnish Agrawal, BJP’s Spokesperson said Scindia has told the public how unhappy he is with Congress and his treatment in the party just by changing his Twitter bio.
As Scindia’s Twitter bio shows a huge change, speculations have risen of whether the leader has finally decided to split from the Congress party, who have denied him of his rewards, and switch to other political party like BJP. Kailash Vijayvargiya said ‘Scindia has been ignored in the Congress for long, but I have no knowledge if he is joining the saffron party’.
