Elon Musk recently hinted that Tesla car owners may soon get the option to choose farting/goat noise for their vehicles’ horns and pedestrian noisemakers. Musk tweeted ‘Customised horn & movement sounds (coconuts being one, of course) coming to Teslas soon’. He also teased rushing wind, goat bleats, and coconut horse clops from ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’ the comedy movie.
In the following tweet, he mentioned adding a goat noise, and a whoopie cushion sound. The addition of the sound ‘will keep pedestrians safe in the long run’. However, the noisemakers have received both negative and positive reviews from consumers. Tesla Model 3 (sedan) have these noisemakers installed in them since September 1st.
The noisemakers will emit sounds while vehicles are moving below 30kmph both forward and reverse. As per the US Pedestrian Safety Enhancement Act 2010 states that because electric vehicles do not make sound on their own, they must have an audible sound installed that gets activated when vehicle is going below 30kmph so pedestrians know they have a car coming.
