Today, IMD (India Meteorological Department) issued a notice stating some places in Guharat, Daman and Diu, Dadar and Nagar Haveli, and Maharashtra are likely to be hit and experience rainfall as a severe cyclone forms over the Arabian Sea called ‘Maha’. Fishermen are advised not to go into for fishing for a couple of days.

IMD issued a statement saying, ‘Light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to heavy falls at a few places very likely over Saurashtra and Gujarat region (Junagarh, Gir Somnath, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Surat, Bharuch, Anand, Ahmedabad, Botad, Porbander, Rajkot) on 6 November and isolated heavy to very heavy falls over Bhavnagar, Surat, Bharuch, Anand, Ahmedabad, Botad, Vadodara on 7 November, 2019’.

According to the All India Weather Warning Bulletin of IMD, ‘Light to moderate rainfall at most places with isolated heavy falls very likely over north Madhya Maharashtra and north Konkan (Palghar and Thane districts) on 6 November and northernmost districts of Madhya Maharashtra on 7 November 2019’.

Other than the above mentioned areas, IMD has asked people from Kerala, Mahe, and Andaman and Nicobar islands to expect heavy rainfall too.

It is expected that the east central, northwest, and the west central Arabian Sea will see an intense and severe cyclone. Additionally, the northeast of Arabian Sea will see high to very high severity in weather conditions, and the north of Andaman Sea along with south east and east central part of Bay of Bengal are likely to witness rough to very rough weather condition in the coming days.
