As reported by the New York Post, Aydin Pedone, a middle school student residing in Hudson Falls, experienced bullying by a cluster of teenagers who initially enticed him to a park and subsequently subjected him to both verbal harassment and physical attack.
Eventually, a video capturing the incident was circulated on various social media platforms. The video has garnered widespread attention. In the footage, a girl from the group can be seen attacking Aydin’s nose, causing him injury that resulted in blood streaming down his face.
The authorities at Hudson Falls Police Department disclosed that the young girl accountable for the assault has been apprehended and accused of a felony of second degree assault. Her guardian has been issued a juvenile appearance ticket and instructed to report to the Washington County Probation Department.
Expressing her outrage, Aydin’s mother, Shellie Pedone, took to social media to condemn the vicious assault on her teenage son. She also called upon parents to address the issue of bullying.
In a Facebook post, Shellie Pedone wrote, “My son was attacked for the purpose of bored teenage entertainment, targeted for being different than them, and viciously attacked because of having the courage to stand out from the crowd and be himself.”
She further added, “He has that kind of heart that only sees the good in people. Is this the kind of kid that deserves to have his nose broken, unprovoked, and witnessed by nearly a dozen peers standing around to watch, record and laugh at him?”
“Parents start paying attention to what your children are doing, who is influencing them while they grow, and how they treat others, especially before they get to middle school.”
In response to this incident, a GoFundMe initiative was launched by some supporters This initiative aims to support Aydin’s martial arts training, enabling him to enhance his ability to handle similar situations in the future. A significant number of individuals on social media have actively expressed their solidarity by sharing videos using the hashtag #aydinsheroes.
