The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hyderabad has approved the Task Force recommendation in which around 148 terminal semester students will be allowed from the Science Schools and SN School to return to the campus and complete the laboratory or practice courses which were either been left incomplete from the last semester or were postponed to the final semester.

According to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the University of Hyderabad, the list of students which are to return to the campus was identified by their respective academic units.
The Task Force which is headed by Prof. Vinod Pavarala, has been monitoring, carefully, the current state of the prevalence of the novel Coronavirus, which includes the new UK variant, and the potential roll-out of vaccination for the deadly virus and also following the Unlock guidelines which have been issued from time to time by the Central Government and the Telangana Government.
The Public Relations Office of the University of Hyderabad said, “Further, taking into consideration the risk of the outbreak of pandemic on campus (on the lines of IIT-Madras), our own limited facilities for quarantine or isolation of students, and UGC guidelines on hostel accommodation, the Task Force has planned for a gradual and phased return of students to the campus.”
The PRO also said, “University has already enabled the return to the campus of over 320 research scholars (M.Phil., and Ph.D.) across various Schools of study to enable them to carry out experimental work as well as timely submission of their theses”.
For the ongoing batch of Master’s students, a full semester was completed online, successfully, and the first semester classes were also started online.
In the latest phase, the Task Force of the University of Hyderabad has considered the need for academic units which have laboratory/practice components to be completed before students graduate in June this year and have also prioritised the return of almost 148 students.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hyderabad has issued a notice requesting all the staff, faculty and students in the Economics, Humanities, Management, Science and SN School to view this as a process, in which all are compelled to prioritise the immediate needs of some of the students over others.
As of now, all the theoretical classes which include for those who will be permitted to return to the campus for practical inputs, will continue online. Thanking the University community for its cooperation in the executing the plans, the Vice-Chancellor requested for a gradual and safe return to the campus to ensure that the risks to the health and safety of the students, faculty members, and staff is at a bare minimum.
Meanwhile, the GHMC, also known as the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation reported the most number of cases with 82, which was followed by Rangareddy and Medchal Malkajgiri with 34 and 32 respectively, as per the government bulletin.
As per the Telangana Health Department, as many as 417 new cases of the novel Coronavirus were reported on Tuesday while 472 discharges and 2 deaths were also reported on the same day.
The total COVID-19 cases count in the state surged to 2,88,410 which includes 2,81,872 recoveries and 1,556 deaths, leaving the state’s active case count at 4,982. Telangana’s recovery rate for COVID-19 stands at 97.73% while the fatality rate stands at 0.53%.
