The absence of former Managing Director of BharatPe, Ashneer Grover, had triggered a meme fest on the internet and garnered mixed reactions from viewers from all over the country. Fans have been speculating the probable reasons why Ashneer was not invited for season 2 of Shark Tank India. The Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, Namita Thapar, who featured as a ‘shark’ in season 1 and is expected to return in the upcoming season as well, took to Twitter to share her opinion on Ashneer Grover’s absence from the show.

She mentioned that the show is not about one individual and is catered to empowering and celebrating job creators and entrepreneurs. The show is about educating the masses about business concepts via real-life stories of nation builders centring around the amount of hard work they put in.

Ashneer Grover had risen to fame during his stint as a shark (investor) in the first season of Shark Tank India. He was unapologetically crude with the contestants and was subject to a hoard of memes created around his dialogues said on the show. One such famous on-liner, “Ye sab doglapan hai”, sent the netizens into a frenzy, taking his popularity a notch higher.

Namita also slammed a Twitter user who compared Shark Tank India to other commercial shows that are driven by TRP and claimed that the business pitches made on the show were unreal.

Namita called out the user and remarked that his opinion was toxic and adverse. “Are you serious? Because it’s my ‘real’ money I’m putting in.. what do you mean by it’s not an actual pitch?”, said Namita. She also added that whining and judging are more accessible in comparison to investing time, mentorship, energy and money.

Apart from Ashneer Grover, it is likely that Mamaearth co-founder Ghazal Alagh will also not be a part of season 2 of the show since she was not featured in the recently released teaser. Amongst the new faces is the CEO and co-founder of the CarDekho group, Amit Jain.
