Our social media feeds frequently feature memes that are inspired by television series. One of these TV programmes that triggered numerous memes was Living on the Edge, widely known as “Pakistani Roadies.” The reality TV programme was a Pakistani adaptation of the Indian TV reality show Roadies, as suggested by its name, in which contestants had to go through an audition to compete.
Even though the contestants may find these auditions to be tough, the videos that go viral make for excellent meme material. One well-known meme from the programme is “Meri selection ho gayi hai.”
The man in the popular meme video, Abdul Waheed, appeared as a contestant on the reality series Living on the Edge eleven years ago. His wry response to being chosen for the performance left everyone in splits. The person who made the world a happier place is now working as a parking valet in Pakistan.
Abdul Waheed was spotted by the Pakistani YouTube channel Dialogue Pakistan. Abdul revealed to them that he had been a valet in the Sharae Faisal neighbourhood of Karachi for more than a decade. He claimed that before obtaining the valet position, he worked as an electronics salesperson. He also opened up about his challenges, why he chose to participate in the reality show, and how he rose to fame once the video went viral.

Internet was reduced to tears on learning about Abdul’s hardships and struggles. “Hats off this his simplicity… may Allah bless him and his family,” wrote one user. Another user urged Dialogue Pakistan to help this man get a decent job.
