Elattuvalapil Sreedharan, also known as the “Metro Man” has formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Malappuram on Thursday in the presence of Union Minister RK Singh who holds the office of Ministry of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship.
Sreedharan joined the Saffron party during its ongoing Vijaya Yatra which is led by Kerala BJP Chief K Surendran.
The National General Secretary of BJL, B L Santhosh, via a post on Twitter, said, “Metro man Sri E Sreedharan joins BJP at Mallapuram in the presence of Union Minister RK Singh during Kerala Vijaya Yatra led by K Surendran.”

Ahead of the Assembly Polls in the state of Kerala, the former Chief of Delhi Metro, Elattuvalapil Sreedharan, announced that he will join the BJP on the 18th of February.

Talking to the news agency ANI earlier, Sreedharan had said, “If BJP comes to power in Kerala, I am ready to become the chief minister. The party has not asked me till now as it is too premature.”
He added, “But if BJP asks me, I am willing to take up the post and show how a state can be run efficiently like we are running DMRC”
The Assembly Polls in Kerala are likely to take place between April and May in 2021.
So far, 98 Left workers have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of Kerala Polls.
