- Sachin Pilot rebels against Ashok Gehlot government
- Kapil Sibal asks for amendments in the anti-defection law
In the middle of the political rollercoaster ride in Rajasthan after Sachin Pilot’s open rebellion, a senior member of the Congress party Kapil Sibal, on Sunday, has called for amending the anti-defection law to ban all the defector from holding a public officer for at least 5 years and fighting the next election.
Sibal also added that the “antibodies” against the “virus of corrupt means” to topple the elected government lie in amending the 10th Schedule of the Constitution which is the anti-defection law.
His statement has come after Sachin Pilot openly rebelled against the in-power Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan which has been on shaky ground since Pilot along with his 18 legislators backed out.
Sachin Pilot was also stripped from his post of not only the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan but also as the Rajasthan Congress Chief.
BJP has been accused by the Congress party of making efforts to topple the Gehlot led government in the state by taking part in horse-trading.

Taking a swipe at Sachin Pilot over his claim of not joining BJP, Sibal, on Thursday, asked when will the “Ghar wapsi” happen and said, “I guess then legislators at a hotel in Manesar is merely a vacation in Haryana’s comfort zone under BJP’s watchful eye”.
In the house of 200 in Rajasthan, the Congress has 107 MLAs which include the 19 dissidents who have now issued notices of disqualification by the speaker which the MLAs have challenged in the High Court.
The Congress is claiming that the Gehlot government has the support of 109 MLAs, including the two BTP MLAs.
