Today, Apple inaugurated its first official retail store in India. While the company had been using Authorised Apple stores to serve customers in India, the Apple Store promises a distinctly unique experience. The store, named Apple BKC, opened at 11:00am IST on Tuesday at the Jio World Drive Mall in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai. In addition to carrying the complete range of Apple products and accessories sold in India, the store will also conduct free ‘Today at Apple’ sessions to assist customers in learning more about their devices.

The opening of the Apple Store on Tuesday attracted large crowds of curious customers and fans who were eager to see the first store run by Apple. In addition to attending the store’s opening, Apple CEO Tim Cook is reportedly scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi this week.

The Apple Store concept is unquestionably a first for India. And the iPhone manufacturer appears to have taken adequate measures to give it a unique appearance and feel. According to the tech giant, Apple BKC is one of the most energy-efficient Apple Store locations in the entire globe. According to Apple, the store has its own solar array and doesn’t use any fossil fuels. Apple claims that because its store uses only renewable energy, it is operationally carbon neutral.

The company claims that the 1,000 tiles that make up the unique triangular ceiling were all put together in Delhi. Each tile is constructed of 408 pieces of timber that are divided into 31 modules. Rajasthani stone walls and a distinctive 14-meter-long stainless steel staircase are included.

All of Apple’s products, including the most recent models of the iPhone, Mac, iPad, AirPods, Apple Watch, and Apple TV, are on display at stores. There are numerous accessories available to go with these. The Apple Store also offers a service called Apple Pickup that enables consumers to pick up items they’ve ordered online from the store itself. Free ‘Today at Apple’ sessions are also offered in its store to aid clients in understanding its products. Apple will provide special sessions at the event today as part of its “Mumbai Rising” series. A music lab, a photography lab, a design lab, and an art lab are among them.

The opening of the Apple Store coincides with the company’s 25th anniversary in India. One of just two authorised retail locations is Apple BKC. Through contract manufacturers, Apple began producing iPhones in India in 2017. By the financial year 2022–2023, it is anticipated that its exports from India will have surpassed $5 billion (approximately Rs. 400 crore). According to the company, the second store will debut on 20 April at 10:00 IST at the Select City Walk Mall in Saket, New Delhi.
