Indian Men’s Cricket Team head coach Mr. Ravi Shastri said MS Dhoni’s availability completely depends upon the former skipper himself. Dhoni has extended his break after ICC World Cup and made himself inaccessible for both West Indies tour and home series with South Africa. Shastri made it clear that Dhoni himself has to announce his plans on joining the team and letting the selection committee know about his future.

Since ICC World Cup, Dhoni have not played a single competitive cricket game, it is assumed that Dhoni will make himself available for India in December when West Indies will be coming to India for 3 T20 internationals and some ODIs. With all the speculations in the air about his retirement from the sports due to poor display of team India in ICC World Cup and team looking to prepare Rishabh Pant as his potential replacement.

Shastri added, ‘Whether he wants to come back, that’s for him to decide. I have not met him after the World Cup. He has to first start playing and let’s see how things go. I don’t think he has started playing after the World Cup. If he is keen, he will definitely let the selectors know,’ Shastri added ‘He will go down as one of our greatest players, very, very high up the list’. Rishabh Pant made his entry into India’s test team as Saha was injured, Shastri declared ‘Saha is the best ‘keeper’ in the world, and at home, where the bounce can be variable, his ‘keeping is invaluable’.Pant is a young talented player and will get time to improve his ‘keeping’ skills, but with his recent record, he needs to pull up his socks to hold his place in Indian Cricket Team.
