The internet has been taken over by a video of a Peacock flying at the Ranthambore National Park in the state of Rajasthan. The 8 seconds clip was recorded by Harsha Narasimhamurthy, a wildlife photographer and shared by Susanta Nanda, an Indian Forest Service officer, on Twitter.

Due to its long-tail features, a Peacock cannot remain airborne for long, however, the bird can fly short distances. A Peacock first runs and then hops in order to take a flight. If you have ever seen a peacock up close you would know of the tail feather, but what you may not know is that they can grow as long as 6 feet and constitute around 60% if the bird’s body length.

In the video, the Peacock flies to the lowest branch of the tree close to it.

Susanta Nanda writes, “This is how a peacock flies. The tail feathers might grow upto six feet and is more than 60% of body length.”

As the video was found by the netizens, it has been going viral.

The video has already been seen by close to 1.5 lakh people. Several fans and followers also thanked Nanda for sharing the video.
