The great cricket legend and former Indian player, Sachin Tendulkar, played a match for the first time in over 5 years as he faced Australian sportswoman Ellyse Perry in a match in Bushfire Bash on Sunday. The Bushfire Bash was kept to raise charity for dealing with the Australian Bushfire, and help the people affected.

The match was played in Melbourne’s Junction Oval. In the Bushfire Bash, each side was to play 10 overs with the two teams being headed by Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist as Ponting XI and Gilchrist XI respectively.
Tendulkar was coaching for Ponting XI and only came on the field to bat on the request of Ellyse Perry and faced her for an over during innings break.
Tendulkar, like the great player he is, started the over of a boundary.

“Yesterday I figured out I could see the ball. At least I’m seeing the ball, I’m not too sure about hitting it or not!” ?

On Saturday afternoon, Ellyse Perry challenged Sachin Tendulkar to play against her via social media. Tendulkar, graciously, accepted the challenge and played an over against the Australian all rounder even when the doctors adviced him not to.
Perry had said “Hey Sachin, it’s awesome to have you out here in Australia supporting the Bushfire match. I know you’re coaching one of the teams but a few of us were sitting around last night chatting and we thought it would be absolutely amazing to see you potentially come out of retirement for one over in the innings break out here at Junction Oval”.
She added, “We’d love to have a bowl to you and obviously fetch a few balls from over the boundary that you’ve hit. We thought it would be an awesome way to raise a bit more money for the Bushfire Appeal, which I know you’re already doing so much for. If you’re at all up for it, we’d love to have you out here I know there’d be some girls very keen to field some balls that you hit. So let us know, and thanks again for everything” in the video message.
After seeing the Tendulkar bat fans could not contain their excitement and pleasure and flooded the social media.

During the match, Ricky Ponting smashes a wonderful one hand shot to send the ball towards the boundary for a four.
