Uber Technologies Inc., is facing major criticism after Dara Khosrowshahi (CEO) called that Jamal Khashoggi, journal and columnist of The Washington Post, and GM and Editor in chief of Al-Arab News Channel murder was a ‘Mistake’. He compared his assassination to the death of a pedestrian that’s hit by Uber’s autonomous vehicles, in an interview with Axios on HBO.
Upon later realising, he said that he made a mistake and regretted the choice of word. He even tweeted saying, there is no forgetting or forgiving as to what had happened to Jamal Khashoggi, and he was wrong for calling it a mistake.
#BoycottUber has been gaining hits across all social media platforms, till date the #BoycottUber has been used over 10,000 times on Twitter alone due to Khosrowshahi’s comment on Khashoggi’s assassination. People are saying that the company’s CEO is dismissing Khashoggi’s gruesome assassination to avoid brining company’s one of the biggest investor into limelight.
Saudi Arabia’s The Public Investment Fund (also called Sovereign Wealth Fund) is the 5th biggest stakeholder of Uber, holding shares worth almost $1.9 billion.
Khosrowshahi went on to twitter admitting to his mistake saying, ‘I said something in the moment I don’t believe’.

Karen Attiah, Global Opinions editor at The Washington Post used her Twitter handle to show repugnance by writing ‘Not only is he running cover for the Saudi government by saying the pre-planned murder of a @washingtonpost writer was a “mistake”, he compares the murder of a human being to Uber making a tech glitch’.

Jamal Khashoggi was assassinated in Istanbul, Turkey, in the Saudi Consulate and according to the investigations conducted by the CIA, the Royal Family of Saudi Arabia is involved.
