At an online-only event, new Xiaomi Redmi Note series was launched in India. The Chinese electronics manufacturer has launched 2 new devices – Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max – at the online-only event.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro will come in two specifications, 4GB RAM with 64GB Storage and 6GB RAM with 128GB Storage and will be priced at Rs. 12,999 and Rs. 15,999 respectively.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max will come with 3 major specifications, 6GB RAM with 64GB Storage, 6GB RAM with 128GB Storage, and 8GB RAM with 128GB Storage and will be priced at Rs. 14,999, Rs. 16,999, and Rs. 18,999 respectively.
Redmi Note 9 Pro will be available from the 17th of March 2020 from 12 PM onwards at Xiaomi’s official stores and Amazon India and the launch offers on the smartphone will be revealed 1 day before the official sale day.
Redmi Note 9 Pro Max will go for sale from the 25th of March 2020 from 12 PM onwards.
Redmi Note 9 Pro Max Specifications
Apart from the big RAM and Storage sizes, the mid-segment smartphone comes with loads of features.
Design
The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max get an Aura Balance Design which emphasizes the symmetry of the smartphone. The phone also gets a Triple Corning Gorilla Glass 5 which not only covers the back and front of the phone but also the camera module. Ergonomically designed for speed and easy access the fingerprint sensor is placed on the side of the phone. The phone will come in 3 colours – Interstellar Black, Aurora Blue, and Glacier White. The phone will also come with a 2.5mm headphone jack.
Camera
At the back, Redmi Note 9 Pro Max comes with a quad-camera set-up with a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP 119° ultra-wide angle camera, a 5MP Macro Camera and a 2MP depth sensor. The back camera set-up also houses a Night Mode along with a Pro Colour mode for single tap fix.
Talking about the front camera, the phone houses a 32MP in-display camera with AI (Artificial Intelligence) beautify, AI portrait mode and much more.
Display
The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max comes with a 6.67 inch (16.9 cm) Full HD+ DotDisplay with a selfie camera placed in the punch hole. The smartphone gets an aspect ratio of 20:9 and comes with 3 different modes – Standard, Sunshine, and Night.
The phone comes with anti-oil and anti-fingerprint coating. And will house Corning Gorilla Glass 5 which makes the screen get scratch marks all the more difficult.
Performance
The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max will run on MIUI 11 and will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G. Xiaomi claims that this chipset has the capability to increase the phone’s battery life. The phone will also come with Qualcomm Adreno 618 GPU which will run at 750MHz.
Redmi Note 9 Pro Max will get 6GB RAM even on the base variant and 64GB of internal storage. In the top variant, the phone will offer 8GB RAM with 128GB of internal storage. However, phone’s storage can be expanded up to 512GB using microSD card.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max will also offer NavIC in partnership with ISRO, and the company claims that the new positioning system will not only provide the location quickly but also more accurately.
Battery
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro Max will come with a 5020 mAh li Polymer battery and will also support 33W fast charging. The best thing is that customers will get the 33W Power Adapter with the phone.
Xiaomi claims that the phone can be charged from 0 to 50% in less than 30 minutes. The batter can offer 20.5 days of standby battery backup or 11 hours backup while playing PUBG M.

Redmi Note 9 Pro
The Redmi Note 9 Pro was launched alongside the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and the phone will share the same design, processor, and battery as the higher variant.
The main difference comes with the camera setup at the back, though it, too, comes with a quad-camera setup, the primary camera is 48MP in Redmi Note 9 Pro. The other 3 cameras are 8MP ultra-wide angle, 5MP macro camera, and 2MP depth sensor which offer AI portrait mode. The front camera’s specification is also reduced a little, as it will come with a 16MP front camera though the features will remain the same. The Redmi Note 9 Pro comes with an 18W fast charger and a 5020 mAh battery which gives the same backup as Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. Most of the other specifications are also the same.
