34 year old actor, Sushant Singh Rajput, committed suicide at his Mumbai home. Rajput who debuted in Bollywood with Kai Po Che! and was last seen in the blockbuster movie Chhichhore was found hanging at his Bandra home in Mumbai earlier this morning.
When the body was discovered, some of his friends were also at home. His body was found hanging from the ceiling fans and as per the initial reports the police thing he was suffering from depression since the past 6 months.
His friends, talking to a leading Indian news agency, said, the reason behind this extreme step is depression.
A suicide note has not been recovered yet.
Reports claim that on Saturday night, Sushant Singh Rajput hosted a close group of friends at his home, however, none of his friends has confirmed the same.
Around 10 AM, today, Sushant went back to his room, after which he was not seen.
Report from IndiaToday says, “The house staff and his friend tried to open the door but in vain. The house staff called a local keymaker. With the help of the duplicate key, they opened the door to discover him hanging. The house help also called the ambulance and the police, who reached his home. The police have found a file which had details of the treatment Sushant Singh Rajput was currently been undergoing. He was suffering from clinical depression for the past six months.”
The local police have already begun with initial inquiries and investigations.
As soon as the news surfaced, Bollywood fraternity, his fans and other celebrities took it to social media platforms to mourn his death. Akshay Kumar tweeted, “Honestly this news has left me shocked and speechless…I remember watching Sushant Singh Rajput in Chhichhore and telling my friend Sajid, its producer how much I’d enjoyed the film and wish I’d been a part of it. Such a talented actor…may God give strength to his family,”.

Ajay Devgan tweeted, “The news of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death is truly sad. What a tragic lossFolded hand’s Deepest condolences to his family & loved ones. May his soul find eternal peace.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also mourned the death of the talented actor as he wrote, “Sushant Singh Rajput…a bright young actor gone too soon. He excelled on TV and in films. His rise in the world of entertainment inspired many and he leaves behind several memorable performances. Shocked by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and fans. Om Shanti.”

Sushant made a name for himself on the small screen, majorly owing to the serial Pabitra Rishta, where he played the lead, following which he made a jump on to the big screen. Sushant turned heads across the level of Bollywood with Abhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che!, which was based on Chetan Bhagat’s bestselling book The Three Mistakes of My Life.
Kai Po Che! catapulted Sushant Singh Rajput, a smalltown boy, into almost overnight fame.
After 2013’s Kai Po Che, Sushant worked in Shuddh Desi Romance with Parineeti Chopra, and then went on to do several films.
He was last seen in Chhichhore opposite Shraddha Kapoor. It was a film directed by Nitesh Tiwari, which dealt with college life and the frustrations of the later years.
The actor’s former manager Disha Salian was also found dead a few days ago.
Patna born Sushant Singh Rajput is 2 sister, 1 elder brother and his father Dr K K Singh. Sushant lost his mother when he was just 16 years old, in 2002.
Sushant’s cousin brother Neeraj Kumar Bablu is an MLA and his sister-in-law is an MLC in the Bihar Legislative Council.
In many interviews over the years, fans have seen Sushant being spoken about the loss of his mother which had a huge impact to him. His last social media post, from June 3, was also a tribute to his late mother. On Instagram, Singh wrote, “Blurred past evaporating from teardrops Unending dreams carving an arc of smile And a fleeting life, negotiating between the two… #माँ”
Sushant Singh Rajput had secured all-India 7th rank in DCE Entrance Exam and finished his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering (DCE). He had also won the Physics National Olympiad.
He joined Shiamak Davar’s dance classes and later joined Barry John’s acting classes to become an actor.
