Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, today, gave a suggestion to the Central and State Governments of opening the licensed liquor stores in the evening during the period of 21 days, the lockdown period.
Via Twitter posts, the 67-year-old actor said that the governments will also earn on the excise through this, adding that it is anyway being sold illegally.
In the tweet, Kapoor wrote, “Think. The government should for sometime in the evening open all licensed liquor stores. Don’t get me wrong. Man will be at home only what with all this depression, uncertainty around. Cops, doctors, civilians, etc… need some release. Black mein to sell ho hi Raha hai (it is anyway being sold illegally),”.

However, the tweets did not go down well with many of the Twitter users.
A twitter user wrote, “Then consider this lockdown a rehab camp and live accordingly. Alcohol is not a basic necessity”.
Another Twitter user wrote, “Think beyond it, Rishi Ji. People don’t have and are not getting even basic food to survive. Watch the TV to know the ground reality and to come out of your cocoon. What an immature suggestion. Absurd”.
“Please tweet responsibly and sensibly during #Covid_19 your immune system needs to be strong to deal with it. To heal faster. Kindly suggest people eat healthy food refrain from alcohol for a while. Alcohol is not a solution to depression. Think different ppl look up to u” said another user.
Another Twitterati wrote, “As a responsible citizen and a celebrity, it’s your duty to inform the police about the illegal Black selling of Liquor instead of asking the Govt to open licensed liquor. Liquor isn’t an essential commodity. Please for god’s sake you celebrities just stay offline for a few days”.
