Highlights:

  • Shah Rukh Khan’s latest release, “Jawan,” has outperformed his previous hit, “Pathaan,” with unprecedented box office success.
  • It has claimed the title of the highest-ever opening day earner for a Hindi film, marking a historic milestone in the actor’s career.

Just after Pathaan, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan had the greatest opening weekend ever for a Hindi film and the fourth-highest for any Indian production.

Shah Rukh Khan has surpassed his previous best. Jawan received the biggest opening for any Hindi-language movie and has also outbeated his previous release, Pathaan. Approximately Rs 65 crore of Jawan’s opening day revenue came from the Hindi version, while the remaining Rs 10 crore came from the dubbed Tamil and Telugu versions, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. This is the largest single-day collection for any Hindi film ever.

With this, Jawan has made the most money in a single day for a Hindi movie and is the first Hindi movie to earn more than Rs 60 crore on its opening day. Its Janamashtmi release undoubtedly increased its sales, and it might soar a bit throughout the weekend. Earlier this year, Pathaan broke the record with its first-day revenue of Rs 57 crore. However, it made Rs 70 crore on day two and ultimately ended its run with Rs 543 crore, setting a record that Gadar 2, which is currently running at approximately Rs 510 crore, may soon surpass. According to Sacnilk, Jawan’s opening day occupancy in India was 58%, with morning shows reporting a 54% occupancy and night shows having a 69% occupancy.

The Hindi version, which is also being shown in other South Indian states, has these ratings. Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, director Atlee, and others worked together to make Jawan Shah Rukh’s first nationwide release. With an occupancy rate of 81%, Chennai actually had the highest occupancy in the entire nation. Mumbai reported a daily occupancy rate of 55%, while the NCR region had a slightly higher rate of 60%. The occupancy rates in Hyderabad and Kolkata were 75% and 73%, respectively.

While IMAX presentations recorded an overall occupancy of 61%, Tamil language shows of Jawan had a strong 70% occupancy. The movie was shown on about 10,000 screens around the world. According to Pinkvilla, Jawan is anticipated to earn at least Rs 45 crore on day one worldwide, which would bring its opening day total to at least Rs 130 crore given that its Indian gross is anticipated to be in the range of Rs 85 crore.

This is the fourth-biggest opening in Indian film history, after RRR (Rs 223.5 crore), Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 214.5 crore), and KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs 164.5 crore). Jawan also had the best pre-sales of any Hindi film.
