Ramayan Breaks Viewership Record As It Becomes The Most Watched In The World

Ramanand Sagar’s mythological show Ramayan made a return to the Televisions on Doordarshan and since the show started its rerun it was smashing records left and right. Since the 28th of March, the show’s rerun began on DD National, Ramayan continued to be the most-watched TV show in India and not just once but attained this feat week after week.

Ramayan concluded on the 18th of April and was then replaced by “Uttar Ramayan” which narrates the story of Ram and Sita’s sons Luv and Kush. Before concluding, Ramayan broke yet another record when on the 16th April it became the most watch show in the entire world with 77 million (7.7 crore) impression as per the data shared by Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India.

In that week itself, DD National garnered 2.68 billion (268 crore) viewership.

Ramayan left behind the likes of Game Of Thrones (GOT), The Big Bang Theory and also Friends just to name a few. The highest viewership garnered by GOT was in its final episode of 19.3 million (1.93 crore) and Big Bang Theory’s finale stood at 24.7 million (2.47 crore) viewership.

The most watched GEC shows for last week were Ramayan and Uttar Ramayan on DD National along with Mahabharat on DD Bharti and Baba Aiso Var Dhuno and Mahima Shanidev Ki on Dangal.

After the major viewership from Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan and B R Chopra’s Mahabharat, another popular mythological show “Shri Krishna” is all set to make a return on DD National. The show will begin airing on the channel from the 3rd of May and will be telecasted every day at 9:00 PM.
