- PM Modi says NCMC will enhance India’s development
- NCMC will work on Airport Express Line as well
On Monday, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, stressed on the need of a Unified Technological Interface which can be used across services which will further enhance the development of the country. Speaking at the launch of the fully working National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) services at the Airport Express Line, he said is one of such interface.
With the NCMC, all the passengers carrying a RuPay debit card issued in the last year and a half (18 months) from any of the 23 banks will be allowed to swipe those debit cards for Metro travel. DMRC, or also knows as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said that the passengers from any part of the country will be able to travel on the Airport Express Line via that debit card.
A spokesperson from DMRC said, “This facility will become available on the entire Delhi Metro network by 2022”.
The Indian Prime Minister said that it is our responsibility that we should focus on the resources and capabilities of our country and use them for something productive. He added that with this integrated approach, India’s strength will solidify.
PM Modi said, “The card was launched with the idea that commuters would have an integrated access to all public transports,” and added, “ This one card will help them save the time they spend standing in queue for tickets”.
PM Modi also said, “One nation, one mobility card is one example. Our government has brought about several other initiatives such as ‘one nation, one FASTag’, which made travelling seamless and freed everyone from traffic.
“‘One nation one tax’, i.e. GST, has made the tax system comprehensive and removed the tax jam,” he added.
In a statement which was released earlier by the DMRC, it welcomed the launch by saying, “These innovations are going to herald a new era of travelling, comfort and enhanced mobility for Delhi-NCR residents.”
