Highlights

  • Kanye West appears to be prepared to officially finalise his divorce from his ex-wife Kim Kardashian after hiring one of the most influential lawyers in Hollywood.
  • Kanye has filed a “statement of disclosure,” which is often done when a divorce case is about to be resolved.
  • It appears that they have agreed upon how to divide their multibillion-dollar enterprise, but there is no sign that they have settled upon the custody of their four children.

In February of last year, Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from Kanye West. The former pair has seen many ups and downs since their breakup, including West’s internet tirades against Kardashian and her family. According to recent reports, the rapper is prepared to finalise his divorce from Kim and has already initiated legal proceedings in this regard.

Kanye has submitted a “declaration of disclosure” via his new lawyer, one of Hollywood’s most influential attorneys who has previously assisted Melinda Gates with her separation from Bill Gates.

This declaration suggests that the case is close to being over. The paper explicitly states that Kanye has given Kim’s legal lawyer all of his financial information and that they have agreed on how to divide their assets. In circumstances of this nature, the disclosure is generally filed days or weeks after the filing of the final judgement and settlement.

While the ex-couple apparently agreed to divide their multibillion-dollar company, they haven’t yet settled on who would have custody of their four children, North, 9, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3. This could result in a contentious legal dispute.

We anticipate Kanye won’t let up on his desire to have more control over his four children, particularly over their education. For months, the “Donda” rapper and reality star have been at odds about where to enroll their children in school. The rapper has even floated the “idea” that they should split time between their private school and his Donda Academy.

Kardashian, however, has been hesitant to enroll her children at West’s enigmatic school because it is not yet recognised by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Kim has reportedly cut off all contact with West during his social media outbursts and currently has “80%” custody of their children. According to sources who spoke exclusively to Page Six, Kim won’t discuss their children’s schedules with West without her assistants.

Interestingly, Kanye recently spoke on a podcast about his child custody battle, adding, “Even to this day, I’ll still give Kim advice on things that can help because that’s gonna go to the kids. She’s still got [them] 80% of the time…raise those children.”

According to sources close to Kardashian, she broke off all contact with the rapper because he had a “mental health episode.”

The final result is that it appears Kanye is clearing the field with Kim Kardashian, as she seems “very upset” with his behaviour.

According to a news report by Page Six, Kardashian “felt it was best to end the marriage when she realized she could no longer help someone that didn’t want to be helped.”
