A 24 year old girl who was the daughter of the rebel MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly) of the Congress party from Madhya Pradesh, Suresh Dhakad, allegedly committed suicide after she hanged herself by the neck from the ceiling of her matrimonial house in Baran district of Rajasthan.

The police found the body of the deceased woman, identified as Jyoti, on the floor of the house in the Bhaskheda village with ligature marks around her neck said the Station House Officer (SHO) of Kelwada Police station, Nand Singh.

He added that the incident must have occurred the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.

Singh said that prima facie (at first sight) it looks like a suicide case, however, the investigation into the incident has not been initiated yet as nobody from the woman’s in-laws family is willing to speak to the police, he added, the post-mortem examination is yet to be conducted.

The father of the deceased woman is Suresh Dhakad, one of the rebel MLA who is from Madhya Pradesh’s Pohhari constituency who resigned from the Congress party to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which resulted in the resignation of the now-former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath.

Jyoti was married to a doctor was is posted as a Medical Officer at a Government Health Centre in Shahabad area and lived in Baskheda village, Baran, Rajasthan.

Jyoti is survived by a 2 year old daughter and her husband said the official.
