Salman Khan’s latest movie Dabangg 3 hit the theatres on the 20th December (Friday) and is performing fairly well on the Box-Office. The movie saw initial two days (Friday and Saturday) low earnings, majorly owing to the anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) across various cities in India. However the movie picked up on the 3rd day (Sunday) as it collected Rs. 31.90 crore taking its opening weekend tally to Rs. 81.15 crore.
Movie critic Taran Adarsh tweeted that “Dabangg 3 partially regains lost ground on Day 3, but loses a big chunk of opening weekend due to protests”. In the tweet the critic prophesised that Day 4 (1st Monday) earnings would be crucial for film’s business, and Tuesday onwards the collection should see a boost.
#Dabangg3 partially regains lost ground on Day 3… Biz jumps across circuits… Loses a big chunk of *opening weekend* biz [approx ₹ 12 cr] due to protests… Day 4 [Mon] crucial… #Christmas celebrations [Tue evening onwards and Wed] should boost biz…

Prabhudeva directed movie stars Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Mahesh Manjrekar. The movie also introduces Mahesh Manjrekar’s daughter Saiee Manjrekar in an important role in the movie. The movie also stars Kannada superstar Sudeep Sanjeev (also known as Sudeep and Kichcha Sudeep) in a negative role.
The movie was edited and the duration of the film was cut by 9 minutes as the movie was being criticised for being too lengthy as it had a run time of over 2 hours. Additionally, the movie is criticised for having too many songs in it, which only hinders the narrative of the movie.
According to a leading agency, the producers of Dabangg 3 shortened the movie by 9 minutes from the 2nd day of release, and the theatres were directed to only play the revised version of the movie. According to a source quoted by the agency said “Out of nine minutes, approximately eight minutes have been removed from the first half. The song ‘Awara’, featuring Salman and Saiee Manjrekar, has been edited out. Also, their other song ‘Naina Lade’ has been slightly trimmed. Moreover, a few comedy scenes didn’t elicit the desired laughs from the moviegoers. Those too have been chucked out from the revised version”.
The source added “The film has been loved for Salman Khan’s performance, it’s action, power-packed climax and emotional quotient. All of them have been retained. The makers now hope that this new and shorter version will create a better impact on the viewers”.
Dabangg 3 have received moderate reviews from critics, Bollywoodhungama gave the movie a rating of 2.5/5. Taran Adarsh gave the movie 3.5 stars out of 5. On BookMyShow (BMS) the movie received 3.4/5 rating from users.
