The Gautam Buddh Nagar police said that on Sunday due to alleged violation of the curbs imposed owing to the novel Coronavirus pandemic, as many as 5 people were arrested and owners of 819 vehicles were penalised across Greater Noida and Noida on Sunday.
4 vehicles were impounded for similar violations in the past 24 hours until Sunday night, police added. Though many restrictions on outdoor movement which were imposed during the COVID-19 lockdown has been eased people need to remember the pandemic is still at large and the cases are only increasing on a daily basis.

The section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), which makes it illegal for 4 or more people to assemble at any place, is still in force in Gautam Buddh Nagar, whose urban areas are in the “red zone” of the COVID-19.
In a statement, the police said, “One FIR was registered and five persons arrested for violating CrPC 144. A total of 2,230 vehicles were checked across 200 barrier points in the district and challans issued to 819 of them, while another four were impounded,”.
As of now the Noida – Delhi border are still sealed for movement with exception given to the essential services and people who possess the pass issued by the district administration, said the officials.
The total number of cases of Coronavirus in India has almost touched 5,50,000 while the death toll has reached 16,487. The global death toll has crossed 5 lakh with over 25% of it coming from the United States of America alone with 1,28,497 deaths reported till now.
