As India crushes Bangladesh in the second test and first even Pink Ball test Match by an innings and 46 runs on the 3rd day itself, the CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal) has finalised that it will refund the money to people who bought tickets for 4th and 5th day of the match. Indian won the 2 test match series by 2-0.
This decision of refunding the money is a rare occasion where an association will refund the money because the match got over early. Generally, the money is only refunded when the match is either called off due to weather conditions like rain or any circumstances which were not under their control. Globally this the foundation of refunding the money.
The Eden Gardens was packed as the state hosted India’s first ever pink ball test match (Day-Night Test Match). The 4th day tickets were sold out as well. Though Indian clinched the victory in the initial hours of the 3rd day, it was sad from the perspective of fans that they could not witness the game for longer.
The first ever Day-Night Test Match was also the shortest Test match to be played in India, when talked about the number of balls bowled. Previously, the shortest game was played in 2018, when India hosted Afghanistan which only lasted 1,028 balls. This match only witnessed 968 balls. Though being a longer match, the game against Afghanistan only lasted 2 days, but during the Kolkata match, played at Eden Gardens, the players kept getting hit which made the game stretch longer.
Sourav Ganguly, President BCCI and CAB shared some pictures of Kolkata lit up in Pink Colour, showcasing the enthusiasm:
