The saffron party had said at the time that Thakur will help in ‘framing right methodology’ so that innocents like herself are not ‘victimised’ pointing to when she was victimised by Congress-led government.

Pragya Thakur is out on bail, she is facing trial in 2008 Malegaon blast case under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Thakur faced backlash earlier this year for the same reasons when during a National Election Campaign she exclaimed Nathuram Godse as a Patriot. She said “Nathuram Godse was a ‘deshbhakt’ (Patriot), is a ‘deshbhakt’ and will remain a ‘deshbhakt’. Following her remarks, BJP faced major criticism for which BJP publically condemned her statement. PM Modi even said ‘these kinds of statements made about Gandh iji are condemnable and cannot be allowed in civilised society. She may have apologised, but I shall never forgive her’.
