Big Boss 13 fame and well-known Youtuber, Vikas Fhatak was arrested by the Mumbai police on Tuesday over provoking class 10th and 12th students to protest outside Maharashtra Education Minister, Varsha Gaikwad’s residence in Dharavi. The social media influencer who also goes by the name of “Hindustani Bhau” had urged students to raise their voices against offline exams amidst the pandemic. An FIR was registered against the 41-year old and others involved in the incident.

Among the others who were arrested Ikrar Khan Wakar (25) in view of his alleged role in the student’s protest. FIR was registered in the Dharavi police station against the two accused under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code including rioting, unlawful assembly, abetting an office, and negligent/malignant act plausible to spread infection of disease dangerous to life (in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic).

The accused have also been booked under the Maharashtra Police Act, the Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Public Property Act and the Disaster Management Act and quoted the officials. Pranay Ashok, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Zone V, said that stringent action will be taken against anyone responsible for breaking the law and instigating students.

Who is Hindustani Bhau?

Vikas Fhatak, a 41-year old Khar resident was a participant in the Colors based reality TV show, Big Boss season 13. He is famous for his videos that have a striking usage of slang words. His social media handle is under the name “Hindustani Bhau”. Controversial videos of him sitting in a vehicle and delivering abusive content gained him popularity. Earlier, Vikas Bhau was a crime reporter for a Tane-based local newspaper. The Youtuber now has a whopping 3 million flowers on social media platforms including Instagram and Youtube.

Hindustani Bhau’s Youtube account has been suspended owing to the abusive content that he had uploaded in the past. Instagram too, last year had suspended his account for encouraging violence and hate speech. In May last year, he had staged a protest at Shivaji Park demanding the cancellation of exams in the light of Covid-19 and was taken in by the Police.
