Kirron Kher, a veteran actress and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is fighting blood cancer. Anupam Kher confirmed the news as well. Kirron is reportedly battling multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer, and is undergoing treatment in Mumbai.

Anupam confirmed the news by posting a note on the microblogging site. He tweeted, “Just so that rumours don’t get the better of a situation Sikandar and I would like to inform everyone that Kirron has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer. She is undergoing therapy at the moment, and we are optimistic that she will emerge stronger than ever. We are incredibly grateful that she is being looked after by a great team of doctors.”

Kirron has been missing from the political and entertainment media for some time, and Arun’s comment came after she was criticised for her silence and absence on a number of issues affecting the state and her party.

Kirron has also been keeping a low profile on social media, with many people questioning her absence.

Kirron entered politics in 2014 and has since been an integral part of Indian politics and the BJP. She has been working for the betterment of the country, and her speeches in parliament have been both inspirational and motivating.

In 1983, the veteran actress made her debut in the Punjabi film Aasra Pyaar Da. She then went on to star in Pestonjee, a 1988 film. She went on to star in a number of successful films, including Sardari Begum, Rang De Basanti, Devdas, Hum-Tum, Khamosh Pani, Khoobsurat and Veer Zaara.

In 2014, Kirron Kher defeated Congress candidate Pawan Bansal and was first time elected to power. She defeated him again in 2019 and retained her Chandigarh seat.

Arun Sood, the president of the Chandigarh BJP, said in a press conference on Wednesday that Kirron has been fighting cancer since last year. While talking about her cancer her further said, “On November 11 of last year, she broke her left arm at her Chandigarh home. She was diagnosed with multiple myeloma after medical tests at Chandigarh’s Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER). Her left arm and right shoulder had been affected by the disease. She had to travel to Mumbai on December 4 for treatment,” he added, adding that the disease has receded from her arm and shoulder in recent tests.
