By using the mapping services, Google is gathering information on the different places people are visiting during the spread of this dealy virus and is doing so on a country to country bases. Google is calling this the “COVID-19 Community Mobility Reports”.

Google says that these reports will help better understand the changes in travel habits of people after the governments issued self-isolation or a complete lockdown. These reports are charting the movement trends over time by geography, across different categories of places.

The places include retail and recreating, parks, workplaces, groceries and pharmacies, residential, and transit stations.

Google said that this will help the public health officials around the globe to make critical decisions in regards to the novel Coronavirus by making use of this data.

COVID-19 Community Mobility Reports: India

On the 24th of March, India went under a lockdown for 21 days, however, this mobility data shows the movement between 16th February and 29th March, let us see how Coronavirus affected us.

Retail and Recreation: The mobility trends for places such as restaurants, cafes, shopping centres, theme parks, museums, libraries, and movie theatres saw a decline of 77%

Grocery and Pharmacy: Mobility trends for places like grocery markets, food warehouses, farmers markets, speciality food shops, drug stores, and pharmacies saw a decline of 65%

Parks: Mobility trends for places like national parks, public beaches, marinas, dog parks, plazas, and public gardens saw a decline of 57%

Transit stations: Mobility trends for places like public transport hubs such as subway, bus, and train stations saw a decline of 71%

Workplaces: Mobility trends for places of work saw a decline of 47%Residential: The only place where Mobility trends saw an increase. It increased by 22%
