Prashant Kishor, the renowned election strategist, on Saturday, slammed the Central Government’s response and preparedness for the novel Coronavirus which has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation.
Kishor said that the 21 day lockdown imposed on the nation is “botched-up” and the treatment and care facilities for people needing services are virtually “non-existent”.
In a tweet, Prashant Kishor, former leader of the Janata Dal (United) said that India’s response to Coronavirus should get better.
He said, “For all our optimism, the bitter truth is India’s #covidresponse needs to get better than just banking on a botched-up #lockdown, less than 10 #covidtest per million, & non-existent COVID treatment & care facilities for people needing such services. India deserves better,”.

Kishor has been a very vocal over highlighting the problems the migrants have been facing post the implementation of the lockdown in the country, and has directly attacked the officials handling their situation.
Not just this, Kishor has been a constant criticiser of both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Nitish Kumar who is the president of JD(U) party, over the Citizenship Amendment Act and the steps takes like NPR (National Population Register), and the NRC (National Register of Citizens) which is said to have been the chief reason of his termination from the JD(U) in the first place.
After a 21 day lockdown was announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday which started from the next day, Kishor said that the duration of the lockdown is “a bit too long” and took a dig at the government saying this is the price people pay for “being behind the curve”. However, the World Health Organisation said that India’s steps and the decision of a lockdown is admirable, and will help contain the spread of the novel Coronavirus.
