Mohd. Azam Khan, a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Samajwadi Party has been sent into judicial custody for 7 days along with his son Abdullah Azam, and Wife Tanzeen Fatima.
The three, on Wednesday, surrendered in the District Court and the next hearing on the case will be on the 2nd March 2020.
The family has been ignoring the summons issued by courts in various cases that are in the trial against them because of which warrants were issued against the three of them.
On Tuesday, a local MP-MLA court in Rampur ordered that properties of Mohd. Azam Khan, Abdullah Azam, and Tanzeen Fatima should be attached after non-bailable warrants were issued against them as they still chose to be remain absent in the court even after official summoning.
Azam Khan had, on several occasions, attempted to get anticipatory bail, however, they were all denied. The trouble got to the family when over 4 fresh cases were lodged against them since July of 2019.
He has been booked for land grabbing, power theft, encroachment, statue theft, goat theft, buffalo theft and also book theft. His son, Abdullah Azam, has been booked in a case of forgery where he forged details in Date of Birth documents, this even cost him his membership in the state assembly after he was found guilty of the charge.
Additionally, FIR was registered against Tanzeen Fatima and son Abdullah Azam for alleged conspiracy to grab land under the government in 2014 when under the Akhilesh Yadav government, Azam Khan was Urban Development minster.
