Siddhant Chaturvedi made his big screen debut when he starred in Ranveer Singh’s led movie Gully Boy as MC Sher. Chaturvedi made his mark in the industry with his first role itself in Gully Boy which has bagged him a project with the Yash Raj Films (YRF) called Bunty Aur Babli 2 which is said to release this year.

In 2019 a lot of star kids entered the industry including Chunky Panday’s daughter and actor Ananya Panday. Recently, in a roundtable discussion hosted by film critic Rajeev Masand was seated by many of the new comers including Ananya Panday and Siddhant Chaturvedi.

In the interview, Nepotism was one of the topics that came out and all of them spoke about, Ananya shared her views on the subject and said “I have always wanted to be an actor. Just because my dad has been an actor, I will never say no to an opportunity to act. My dad has never been in a Dharma film, he never went on Koffee With Karan. So it’s not as easy as people say. Everyone has their own journey and their own struggle.”

She continued by saying “When Student Of The Year (SOTY) 2 got delayed by a year, my dad actually didn’t even congratulate me till the film released because that’s how fickle the industry is. That’s how dispensable people are. Anything can happen, it can get shelved, it can release after years and he knows that. Mine has been a lot of personal experience, I have seen my dad go through so many things that I don’t take anything too seriously. I overcompensate sometimes. I am so scared that people may say that oh you are taking things too lightly’ so I will come extra early to places. I am so happy that I have this chance.”

Everyone in the room agreed with Ananya, including Siddhant, however, he had a befitting reply for the actress’ rant on Nepotism as she said “Everyone have their own struggles, in their own way”. Siddhant replied without taking much of their time and said “The difference is jahaan humare sapne poore hote hain, wahi inka struggle shuru hota hai”.  (Their struggle begins where we think our dreams are fulfilled) A twitter user by the name of Devdas shared the video and the video has been going viral ever since, he said “Ananya Pandey complaining about nepotism and Sidhant Chaturvedi ending her existence with one line, look at her reaction lol”.

The whole internet is praising Siddhant for his fitting reply that sums up the difference in the struggle of a star kid and a commoner. Hum Tum and Fanaa director Kunal Kohli praised Siddhant for his reply saying “Jahan humare sapne poore hote hain, wahan unka struggle shuru hota hai. Wah Siddhant Wah, kya line hai. Respect, this boy knows what life is. Too good. Wah”. (Their struggle begins where we think our dreams are fulfilled, what a line. Respect, this boy knows what life is. Too good. Great)

A Twitter user said “In 4 seconds, #SiddhantChaturvedi summed up the struggle of outsiders and the upper hand celebrity kids have in the film industry! Acknowledging where you come from and being real about it is so important! #TheNewcomersRoundtable2019 #Bollywood”.

Another user wrote “It’s so infuriating when they are in denial and can’t acknowledge how easy it is for them!”

We know that star kids have their own struggles, for example, the huge burden of legacy they need to carry forward and make a mark in the industry as their parent(s) did, but it is in no way equal to the struggles faced by a commoner to get their first break. Another user said “I feel like someone needs to sit down with them and explain how easy it is for them, because they don’t really get it otherwise!!”.
