A US school district forbade its students to attend their prom and other extra curricular activities if they have a lunch debt of over $75. The president of Cherry Hill district schools, New Jersey said this plan will strike a ‘balance of compassion’ while ‘holding people accountable’.

A businessman tried to come in front and offered to settle the debts of students, however, his offer was rejected. These bans were implemented as the previous measures undertaken wherein students behind their payments were only provided with Tuna Sandwiches instead of full meals by the district were criticised and called ‘Lunch-Shaming’.

The above mentioned policy was withdrew when it saw a major backlash from the public.
