The former Spice Girls singer has drawn attention recently after a number of the tattoos she had inked in David Beckham’s honour disappeared from her body. Some have speculated that the long time pair is having marital issues as a result of the faded tattoos, which feature David’s initials on her left wrist and a Hebrew phrase that matches the one on the soccer star’s arm tattooed on her spine.
But on October 13, Victoria clarified her choice to get de-ink. She stated during her appearance on Today with Hoda & Jenna that “they just didn’t look so nice. It doesn’t mean anything more than that.”
The fashion designer continued by saying that over time, the tattoos she had “a long, long time ago” had taken on a “sort of bluey” colour. Victoria decided that her body art collection needed to be “cleaned” because she wasn’t happy with way they looked.
“I was just a bit sick of the tattoo,” she said. “It’s as simple as that.”
Since their 1999 wedding, Victoria, 48, and David, 47, have gotten numerous tribute tattoos. In fact, it appears that their children have inherited their passion of body art, with Brooklyn Beckham sporting a number of tattoos in memory of his wife Nicola Peltz.
Brooklyn most recently shocked the Transformers: Age of Extinction actor by getting the word “Married” tattooed on his hand. In addition, he has tattoos of their wedding vows on his arm and a drawing of Nicola’s eyes on the back of his neck.
Victoria talked about seeing Brooklyn and Nicola’s wedding earlier this year during her appearance on Today. She remarked, “It was a lovely wedding, as a mother, it means so much to see my son so happy.”
