Strategist for the former President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, will turn himself in to the New York Prosecutors on Thursday as part of a novel criminal investigation as reported by The Washington Post on Tuesday night.
Steve Bannon will, reportedly, be indicted on the charges related to his role in a $ 25 million fundraising scheme which was called “We Build The Wall”. In a separate federal case, prosecutors said Bannon, along with several others, defrauded donors and accumulated over $ 1 million from the Mexican border wall campaign despite pledging that he would not take a single penny in compensation.
Though Bannon was pardoned in a related federal investigation by then President Trump, in state prosecutions, Presidential pardons do not apply.

The Post notes that Alvin Bragg, Manhattan District Attorney, has been investigating Bannon and his associates over the fundraiser, We Build The Wall, since 2021 when he was pardoned.
Criticising the investigation, Bannon called it “nothing more than a partisan political weaponization of the criminal justice system,” in a statement on Tuesday night.
According to NBC News, Bannon said, “The Soros-backed DA has now decided to pursue phoney charges against me 60 days before the midterm election because WarRoom is the major source of the MAGA grassroots movement,” referencing the Democratic donor George Soros and his political website.
Bannon added, “The SDNY did the exact same thing in August 2020 to try to take me out of the election. It didn’t work then, it certainly won’t work now.
“This is nothing more than a partisan political weaponization of the criminal justice system.
“I am proud to be a leading voice on protecting our borders and building a wall to keep our country safe from drugs and violent criminals.” The report came out just a month after Steve Bannon was found guilty of contempt of Congress wherein he ignored multiple subpoenas related to the House select committee that is investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
