In the midst of rising tensions between Russia and Ukraine, Indian authorities rescued a Pakistani student who was stranded in a war-torn country.
Pakistani national Asma Shafique, who was rescued by Indian authorities, is currently on her way to Western Ukraine for further evacuation out of the country stated reports.
According to the sources, she will be reunited with her family shortly.
Shafique conveyed her gratitude to the Indian embassy in Kyiv and Prime Minister Narendra Modi after being rescued by Indian officials.
“I want to thank the Indian embassy of Kyiv for supporting us all the way here as we were stuck in a very difficult situation and I also want to thank the Prime Minister of India for supporting us. Hope we get home safely because of the Indian embassy,” she said.

This is not the first time India has evacuated a foreign national. Earlier, India evacuated one Bangladeshi national, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), that had later also informed that one Nepali citizen will board an Indian flight as part of Operation Ganga.

According to The Kathmandu Post, Roshan Jha, the first Nepali person to be evacuated from Ukraine by Indian officials, expressed thanks to the Indian government for their support.
Later, the Indian embassy in Kathmandu reported that the Indian government was evacuating seven more Nepalis from Poland.
Meanwhile, the MEA announced on Tuesday that it has evacuated all Indian students from Sumy, Ukraine.
So far, over 18 thousand Indians have been brought back by special planes under ‘Operation Ganga’ to rescue Indian nationals from Ukraine’s neighbouring nations.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, 410 Indians were returned on Tuesday by special civilian flights from Ukraine’s neighbouring nations through two special civilian flights from Suceava.
This has led to the return of over 18,000 Indians through special flights that began on February 22, 2022.
