Highlights:

  • Srinagar’s Sangam Eidgah witnessed heart-clenching killings of two school teachers
  • Satinder Kour and Deepak Chand succumb to death
  • The Resistance Front (TRF) of Laskhar-e-Taiba bore responsibility

Three days ahead of the killings involving Kashmiri pandit Makhan Lal Bindroo, and 2 others, one of whom was a local vendor in the region, terrorists shot down a school teacher and the school’s principal within the premises of the school. The terrorists, as described by the onlookers, barged into the school property and post confirmation of the IDs, fired at the principal, Satinder Kour and teacher, Deepak Chand.

A total of 5 civilians have breathed their last in the terror strikes that rocked J&K and sent a wave of agitation and anger amongst the kin of the deceased. Dilbag Singh, J&K Director General of Police, opinionated that the pitched attacks in the entire region have conspired in an attempt to derange local harmony and malign the local Kashmiri Muslims.

Repeated attacks on non-muslim minorities, hint at the broad agenda of inhibiting Kashmiri pandits and other minority clans from re-entering J&K.

The Resistance Front (TRF) upheld by Islamist terrorist organization, Lashkar-e-Taiba claim responsibility for the assassinations. It states that the killings were carried out by Shaheed Gazi Squad unrelated to the religion of those executed.

“Our fight is to safeguard our freedom’’ – it said. TRF alleges that the teachers had harassed the students and their parents, and threatened them to forcefully participate in the 15th August function, which was why the militant organization murdered them.

The incidents are being strongly condemned and the Kashmiri Sikh community took to the streets with an outcry of Anti TRF slogans. Thousands of Sikhs display solidarity against the incessant barbaric terror activities in the valley. “I strongly condemn the barbaric killing of two of our teachers, Supinder Kour and Deepak Chand by terrorists. A befitting reply will be given to the perpetrators of the heinous terror attacks on innocent people” – Manoj Sinha, Lt. Governor of J&K.
