Bushra Bibi, the wife of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, also tested positive for COVID-19 a few hours after the PM was infected with the virus on Saturday.
Imran Khan thanked everyone for their good wishes and prayers for him and his wife on Twitter this evening. Pakistan PM through his official handle on Twitter, wrote, “I want to thank everyone in Pakistan & abroad for their good wishes and prayers for the quick recovery of the first lady and I from Covid 19.”

Imran Khan contracted the disease just two days after receiving his first vaccine against the disease. As Pakistan battles a third wave of the virus, the 68-year-old former top cricketer was given a shot of the Sinopharm vaccine, which is manufactured in China.
According to his top communication aide, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and First Lady Bushra Bibi are “comfortable with mild symptoms.”

Dr. Shahbaz Gill, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Communication, said in an Urdu tweet that the prime minister and first lady are grateful for their well-wishers’ good wishes.
He added that Imran Khan, 68, would continue to carry out his official duties through video conferencing. In a tweet, he said, “Prime Minister Imran Khan and First Lady Bashari Imran are comfortable with mild symptoms.”
Khan had a mild cough and fever, according to Syed Zulfi Bukhari, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Overseas Pakistanis.
The Pakistani Prime Minister and his wife were infected with the coronavirus on Saturday, a day when Pakistan registered the highest number of coronavirus cases since July last year.
Mr Imran Khan has been holding meetings regularly and frequently lately, including attending a large-scale security conference in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital. He spoke without a mask at the conference, and he did the same on Friday at a similar event to inaugurate a housing project for the poor, according to news agency Reuters.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among other world leaders, wished Imran Khan a “speedy recovery” from Covid-19 on Saturday. PM Modi went on Twitter and wrote, “Best wishes to Prime Minister Imran Khan for a speedy recovery from COVID-19.”
Pakistan has reported 626,802 cases and 13,843 deaths, according to the Johns Hopkins University coronavirus tracker.
