Earlier this week a 33 year old choreographer has filed a formal complaint with National Commission for Women (NCW) and Amboli Police accusing the Bollywood choreographer, Ganesh Acharya, of making her watch adult videos whenever she went to his officer in Andheri.
The 33 year old choreographer has filed 2 applications with Amboli Police. The First one was received on the 26th January by the police, wherein the lady accused Acharya and 2 other women of abusing and assaulting her at a function of Indian Film and Television Choreographers Association (IFTCA) in Andheri, saying that the whole incident was caught on the CCTV camera.
Police has said that, Acharya, too, filed a cross-complaint against the woman. Both of them were registered as the Non Cognizable complaints (NCs) – these offence includes public annoyance, and misbehaviour.
On the next day (27th January), the woman filed second application with the Amboli Police saying that once Acharya become the Secretary of IFTCA he demanded commission for every project that she gets landed with. She said that every time she visited Acharya in his office she would find him watching adult films and even asked her to watch them with him.
The 33 year old lady choreographer said that when she refused to do so, she was suspended from the IFTCA, and when Acharya saw her at the IFTCA function, he lashed out at her.
Following the application, Amboli Police asked the lady to come and record her statement formally so the process of FIR can be started. Senior Inspector, Someshwar Kamthe, Amboli Police said “We called up the complainant, but she said she’d first complain with NCW before coming to us”.
Acharya, talking to a leading news company of India said “The woman is not even a member of IFTICA dance association as she claims. I barely know who she is, let alone having invited her to my office and asking her to watch porn films. Let her produce proof else I will file a defamation suit. I have CCTV footage proving I had left the venue of the January 26 event, after which the woman got into a physical fight with a woman member”.
He added that “This is the conspiracy against me to malign my image, there are people like Saroj Khan and her colleagues who are doing corruption in the industry. Their business has flopped as I have entered the association”.
The identity of the 33 year old choreographer has been kept confidential following the Supreme Court’s directives on the cases related to Sexual Assault.
