On 16th July, Friday, veteran actress Surekha Sikri breathed her last, in Mumbai at the age of 76. Her manager confirmed the news of her death and said that she passed away due to a cardiac arrest earlier this morning.

Surekha was not in the best of her healths for some time now.

In the year 2020, Sikri had to be rushed to a hospital after she suffered a brain stroke. She also suffered a paralytic stroke earlier in 2018. The manager of Surekha Sikri confirmed the news to Indianexpress.com and said, “Three-time national award winning actress, Surekha Sikri has passed away following a cardiac arrest earlier this morning at the age of 76.

“She had been suffering from complications arising from a second brain stroke. She was surrounded by family and her caregivers. The family asks for privacy at this time. Om Sai Ram.”

Surekha Sikri made her debut in 1978 with Kissa Kursi Ka. She married Hemant Rege and they have a son together, Rahul Sikri.

Her works in the industry include Balika Vadhu, movie Badhaai Ho, Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani, Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil… Indumati Lala Mehra, Maha Kumbh: Ek Rahasaya, Ek Kahani, Saat Phere – Saloni Ka Safar, Banegi Apni Baat, Kesar, Kkehna Hai Kuch Mujhko, Saher, Samay, CID and Just Mohabbat, among others.

The veteran actress has won three national awards, including one for Badhaai Ho for the Best Supporting Actress.

Surekha Sikri was last seen in the Netflix’s “Ghost Stories”, which was directed by Zoya Akhtar
