A newborn who came to the world on the 26th March and her 26-year-old mother has tested positive for the novel Coronavirus. The family alleges that the mother and the baby contracted the deadly virus as they were put on a bed which was vacated by a Coronavirus patient.
On Tuesday, the mother along with her baby were shifted to Kurla Babha Hospital and then later were shifted to Kasturba Hospital which is the nodal centre of the COVID-19 cases in Mumbai.
The family had alleged that they got to know about the lapse only when a doctor had called and asked them to take a test for the novel Coronavirus. The family is also claiming that no staff member of the Hospital in Chembur came to check on the mother and the baby while they were admitted there.
They were later shifted to another room.
The husband of the 26 year old who works at the position of the Manager at a restaurant has been quarantined now at the Kasturba Hospital, this hospital, as of now, is treating more than 120 patients of Coronavirus.

According to some experts, the possibility of the mother contracting the deadly virus while giving birth to her child cannot be ruled out.
For 10 days, the family was at home following the lockdown before arriving at the hospital. The Chembur Hospital has now been shut for sanitisation process at all surfaces. On Wednesday, the number of cases of Coronavirus in Maharashtra surged to 335, an increase of 33, and 6 more people died of the virus, which took the fatality number to 16.
Out of the 33 cases, 30 were found in Mumbai alone, 1 was reported in Buldhana and 2 came from Pune according to an official.
Earlier in the day, Maharashtra’s Health Minister, Rajesh Top said that the number of cases of COVID-19 would only increase further as there are close to 5,000 people in the “High-risk” category as of now.
As on Thursday Morning, the total number of cases in Indian has already crossed 2,000 marks with 58 people of those losing their lives. On the global level, the total number of reported cases of the novel Coronavirus is close to 10 lakh people. And Coronavirus has already claimed more than 47,000 lives.
