Bong Joon-ho, South Korean film maker hits it big and out of the park and wins at bragging rights at the 92nd Academy Awards by winning multiple awards. For the critically acclaimed movie Parasite, Joon-ho won the awards for Best Director, Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Picture, and Best International Feature.
In his acceptance speech for the Best Director, he said “Thought I was done”. In the speech he gave a shout out to the other directores nominees Todd Phillips, Martin Scorsese, Sam Mendes, and Quentin Tarantino.
Many pundits and critics predicted that it would be Sam Mendes’ war drama “1917” which will take the awards for both Best Picture and Best Director, with Joon-ho’s “Parasite” the 1st runner up (2nd place).
The Best Actor award goes to Joaquin Phoenix for the movie “Joker”.

Reene Zellweger won the Best Actress Award for the movie “Judy”. Brad Pitt also took home the award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for the movie “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood”. Laura Dern also took the award for the Best Actor in Support Role in Oscars 2020 for her role in “Marriage Story”.
Sam Mendes’s “1917” won the award for Best Cinematography. 1917, a movie that makes people believe that it was shot in one single shot. 1917 also won the award for Best Visual Effects at the Oscars 2020. Taika Waititi’s “Jojo Rabbit” won the award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
Toy Story 4 won Best Animated Feature.

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s movie “Gully Boy” exited the contest at the shortlist stage.
This year’s Academy Awards capped the Hollywood’s award season this year, and yet again, the award show was seen without a host. Presenters of the awards included last year’s winners Olivia Colman, Mahershala Ali, Rami Malek, and Regina King. There were many performances at the Oscars, but not many came as surprising as the gig by Eminem.
Film Makers Lina Wertmuller and David Lynch along with Actor Wes Studi were presented with Honorary Oscars. Jean Hershoolt Humanitarian Award was presented to Geena Davis.
