Akshay Kumar, the 52 year old Khiladi of Bollywood has been requesting people to stay indoors and abide by the government’s mandate of self-quarantine to fight against the spread of the novel Coronavirus pandemic.
As people all over the country broke the lockdown protocol on Monday, Akshay Kumar shared a video on his Instagram handle with a stern message which said, “Har baar main apse dil ki baat pyaar se bolta hun paar aaj kasam se itni khundak aa rahi hai na ki koi galat shabd nikal jaye toh mujhe maaf karna. Kya dimaag hil gaya hai kya kuch logo ka? Kya ho gaya hai logo ko? Kiss ko lockdown ka matlab samjh mein nahi aa raha hai? Lockdown ka matlab hota hai ghar par raho. Ghar ke bhitar raho, parivaar ke saath raho. (Every time I share my thoughts with you guys politely but I swear, today, I am so annoyed that pardon me if I end up saying something rude. Have some people lost it? What has happened to these people? Who doesn’t understand what a lockdown is? Lockdown means stay at home. Stay inside your home, stay with your family).”
Akshay also talks about the importance of self-isolation with your family will make you the real hero at such a time. “Mazaak nahi hai is time. Iss bimari ke samne sabki haalat buri hai, puri duniya ki haalat buri hai. Sirf ghar pe raho. (This is not a joke. Everyone’s in a tough phase because of the disease),”

He said, “Zindgi ke khiladi bano, ghar par raho, apni family ke hero bano” (Become a hero of life, stay at home, be a hero for your family).
Akshay Kumar’s video came right after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation for the second time in 5 days due to Coronavirus where he informed of a 21 days lockdown in the country starting from midnight of Tuesday.
During this time frame, he has urged people to take it as a curfew and not to come out unless it is unavoidable.
On Sunday, the day of Janata Curfew, Akshay Kumar, along with the whole nation, cheered of the people who are doing their duties day and night to minimize the effect of Coronavirus. Sharing a video, where he, Hrithik Roshan and Sajid Nadiawala were seen banging utensils from their beachfront, he wrote, “With my neighbours taking a moment to appreciate those who do not have this luxury of staying at home and working tirelessly to keep us safe,”
Akshay’s upcoming movie “Sooryavanshi” which was scheduled to be released on 27th of March, was postponed indefinitely in the wake of COVID-19.
In India, over 550 people have been infected with Coronavirus so far and 12 people have lost their lives.
