Bollywood veteran choreographer Saroj Khan passes away due to a cardiac arrest in a Mumbai Hospital today at the age of 71. Saroj Khan on 20th of June was taken to Guru Nanak Hospital after she complained of breathing troubles but tested negative from the novel Coronavirus.
Manish Jagwani, nephew of the late Bollywood choreographer said, “She passed away due to cardiac arrest at around 2.30 am at the hospital,” it is being reported the funeral will be held today.
Madhuri Dixit Nene who was closest to Saroj Khan from the Bollywood having done n number of songs with her said, “I’m devastated by the loss of my friend and guru, Saroj Khan. Will always be grateful for her work in helping me reach my full potential in dance. The world has lost an amazingly talented person. I will miss you My sincere condolences to the family.” on a post on the micro-blogging website Twitter.

Last week it was thought Saroj Khan would be discharged from the hospital, a family source then said, “She is fine now and recovering. She had breathing issues and was taken to hospital for that. Her COVID-19 test was done which turned out negative. She doesn’t have any symptoms. She is likely to be discharged in a day or two,”.

Akshay Kumar tweeted, “Woke up to the sad news that legendary choreographer Saroj Khan ji is no more. She made dance look easy almost like anybody can dance, a huge loss for the industry. May her soul rest in peace”.

Soon after Saroj Khan death, Kunal Kohli tweeted about the woman he called “Masterji”.

Saroj Khan was the winner of 3 National Awards and choreographer multiple Bollywood’s iconic songs hits which starred actresses like Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi. Saroj Khan’s earliest routines were for Sridevi in films like Mr India, Nagina and Chandni.
She also choreographed the quirky moves in Hawa Hawai. Later, she worked with Madhuri Dixit on Tezaab’s Ek Do Teen, Thaanedaar’s Tamma Tamma Loge, Beta’s Dhak Dhak Karne Laga and many other numbers.
Saroj Khan won National Awards for choreographing Dola Re Dola from Devdas featuring Madhuri and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Yeh Ishq Haaye from Kareena Kapoor’s Jab We Met, and all the songs of Tamil movie Sringaram.
She also had Filmfare Awards for Tezaab, Sailaab, Beta, Chaalbaaz, Khalnayak, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas and Guru under her name.
Saroj Khan is survived by her husband Sohanlal, son Raju, and daughters Hina and Sukanya.
