Babita Phogat engaged to National Wrestling Champion Vivek Suhag is all set to tie the knot

In June, Babita Kumari Phogat announced her engagement with Vivek Suhag, Indian wrestler. Vivek Suhag who won the National Championship (Bharat Kesari) in 2018 is from Najafgarh, Delhi. Babita while talking to the press said, she met Vivek in 2014 in Delhi during an event, ‘It was an event for wrestlers at a hotel in Delhi where we first met. Bas wahan dosti ho gayi. We stayed in touch and in time, we realised that we liked each other. I like how he is very straightforward but still respects others’.

Later in the week Babita and Vivek told their families about their relationship and expressed their wish of getting married to each other. But, according to Babita, Vivek was nervous to even talk to her father, Mahabir Phogat, she said ‘Senior hain woh kaafi aur unki reputation bhi hai. But he was still confident of leaving a good impression’.

On 2nd of June, Vivek along with his family met Mahabir Phogat and even got his blessings. The Phogat and Suhag families were finalising the date of marriage, and finalised that the wedding will take place on the 1st of December 2019. The wedding will take place in Charkhi Dadri, Haryana which is the ancestral village (gaon) of the Phogats’.

On 4th June she shared the pic of his father and Vivek on her twitter handle captioning it as ‘@SuhagVivek  you know it’s official when you get the blessing from my bapu. It’s time for Dilwale to take her Dulhaniya’.

Babita wishes to move to Delhi after the marriage and follow her sister’s footsteps by training for the upcoming events. She said ‘Like Geeta didi, I will also move to Delhi after marriage because that is where Vivek’s family is, and I will continue to train. The big events like the Olympics are close now and my focus will not shift’.
