One day after 2 chief decision of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government were overruled, the Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal has called an “all-party meeting” to discuss the COVID-19 situation in the national capital.
According to the Lt Governor’s office, the meeting will be held at 3 PM. Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, however, will be unlikely to attend the meeting as he is unwell and will take the COVID-19 test today.
Yesterday, Lt Governor Baijal cancelled 2 key decision made by the AAP government. The first one was the reservation of beds in Delhi Government run hospitals and some private hospitals for COVID-19 patients in the national capital who are the resident of Delhi.
Second, Baijal also reversed the decision to test only the people who show symptoms of COVID-19 and said the even the asymptomatic cases and people on high-risk contacts with a virus patients will also be tested.
Additionally, today a separate meeting will be held in Delhi of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority to assess whether the national capital has entered the community transmission stage of the pandemic. Community Transfer stage means not being able to track the source of infection in people.
The Lieutenant Governor is the Chairman of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority.
Arvind Kejriwal went into self-isolation on Monday after he developed COVID-19 symptoms of mild fever and sore throat is likely to skip the meeting. In his place, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia would be attending the meeting which would decide the next course of plant in Delhi.

Manish Sisodia, on Monday, said, “If community transmission is established at the meeting tomorrow, we will have to change our strategy accordingly,”.
Delhi has also seen a huge spike in the cases of COVID-19 as the national capital has already reported over 29,000 cases with 874 deaths.
Satyendar Jain, state’s Health Minister said that after looking at the doubling rate of the infections, Delhi could have well over 56,000 cases of COVID019 in the coming 2 weeks.
After the Lieutenant Governor revoked the decision of AAP, the party sharply reacted alleging that he has acted under pressure for the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) which rules the centre.
Arvind Kejriwal said that Baijal move will create a huge problem and challenge for the people residing in the national capital, however, added that his government will try to arrange treatment for everyone who comes to the city from all over the country. The Chief Minister tweeted, “Maybe it is God’s will that we serve the people of the whole country. We will try to provide treatment to all,”.
